Features
Safety & Security IntruderLam™ is a security laminated glass ideal for residential security that incorporates an interlayer that is four times the thickness used in standard laminated glass. It is designed to deter intruders by slowing down access, increasing the time required to enter your home and making it more difficult to gain entry.
IntruderLam™ offers enhanced protection for areas at risk of opportunistic smash and grab burglary. These types of security threats often involve the use of simple tools like hammers to quickly break the glass to steal valuables.
While it may not be possible to completely prevent intrusion, the objective should be to provide sufficient deterrence, delay or to be able to detect and react to an intruder.
UV Protection IntruderLam™ reduces the rate at which your furniture fades by absorbing 99% of UV radiation.
Enjoy Peace of Mind IntruderLam™ is a safety glass that offers peace of mind in the event of accidental human impact breakage as the glazing will remain in place and reduce the risk of injury. IntruderLam™ also offers enhanced security without any hint of the building looking like a fortress.
IntruderLam™ is the perfect security upgrade without making your home look like a fortress. Ideal for windows, doors or any glazing that is secluded or susceptible to break-ins.

Considerations

SG & IGU’s

Consider IntruderLam™ in all areas susceptible to accidental impact breakage or forced entry. IntruderLam™ is ideal for residential security windows and doors as it looks like standard clear glass yet provides a barrier to forced entry that is 20 times harder to break through than standard float glass. IntruderLam™ is available in 7.52mm laminated glass and provides extra resistance to penetration because it incorporates an interlayer, four times the thickness of the interlayer used in standard laminated glass.  It is the perfect security upgrade without making your home look like a fortress. Ideal for windows, doors or any glazing that are secluded or susceptible to break-ins. IntruderLam™ should be incorporated with windows and locks of sufficient strength.

Installation
High impact forces can result in broken glass being pushed out of a standard window or door frame. Security windows are only effective when designed as a complete assembly including glazing, frames and connection to other building envelope materials. Of key concern is the connection between the glazing and the frame which is how far the glazing edges are embedded into the frame. Structural silicone glazing can also keep the glass from separating from its frame.  In addition, gaskets that absorb applied pressures can hold the glass in place post breakage.

How to Specify

Available colours and thicknesses:

  • Clear 7.52mm

Select from: Laminated or Heat Strengthened Laminated

*If unsure, select in compliance with AS1288–2021 or manufacturers recommendation.*

  • The glass shall comply with the following performance criteria:
  • U value
  • Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
  • Visible Light Transmission %
  • Glass Only Values
  • Total window

Heat Strengthening
All glass which requires extra strength and thermal resistance will be heat strengthened. Heat strengthening increases the strength of annealed glass; however, it is not a substitute for toughened glass.

In the event of fracturing heat strengthened glass will crack and tends to remain in glazed position.

All glass is to be selected and installed in accordance but not exclusively with the following Australian and/or New Zealand Standards

  • AS 1288 Glass in Buildings Selection and Installation
  • AS 1170 Minimum Wind Loads on Structures
  • AS/NZ 2208 Safety Glazing Materials in Buildings
  • AS/NZ 4666 Insulating Glass Units
  • AS/NZ 4667 Quality Requirements for cut-to-size and Processed Glass

Oceania Glass makes and distributes glass. Oceania Glass does not process glass nor produce Insulated Glass Units. Processing of glass and production of Insulated Glass Units is undertaken by independent processors. Speak with your nominated glass processors to understand their processing capability.
